New Restaurant Cotton in Tampere offers robust culinary experiences in a Scandinavian setting

The latest addition to the restaurants of Tampere, Restaurant Cotton, provides distinct and robust flavours. Situated at Holiday Club Tampereen Kylpylä, the restaurant has a fresh Scandinavian décor but also honours local history. The cocktail bar built around classic drinks completes the carefully considered setting.

Restaurant Cotton serves high-quality classic food. The menu features fresh fish and many kinds of salads. The charcoal grill at the heart of the kitchen gives food an irresistible aroma. The fruit bread baked daily in-house is the perfect complement.

The restaurant combines Finnish and international cuisine while also honouring local history: The name Cotton refers to the Lapinniemi cotton spinning mill, which operated in the building a century ago, and the tastes of the mill's founders were considered in the creation of the menu.

"The mill's founders, commercial counsellor Arthur Sommer, paymaster J. Kupiainen and engineer P. A. Sharples, appreciated distinct flavours and served their important guests local Finnish foods. These traditions were preserved in the creation of Cotton's à la carte menu," says Restaurant Manager Ulla Ainassaari-Vuorinen.

Lunch guests can choose from several main courses, and there is a daily soup option and an abundant salad bar with freshly baked bread. A small dessert crowns the meal.

Classic cocktails and organic wines from the new cocktail bar

The restaurant's cocktail bar has been built around quality drinks. The list includes classic cocktails, such as the Mojito, Paloma and Frozen Margarita. Classics as well as interesting organic wines have been selected for the comprehensive wine list.

"We wanted to create a timeless environment that uplifts guests above day-to-day concerns. There is a reason why classic drinks made by skilled professionals remain popular. The demand for organic wines has also increased significantly in recent years, so it was natural to want to include them on the list."

Fact: Attractive city spa in a gorgeous historical mill setting

Holiday Club Tampereen Kylpylä is also known as the Lapinniemi spa. It has been built, respectful of traditions, on the premises of the Lapinniemi cotton mill completed in 1899.The founder of the Lapinniemi cotton mill was commercial counsellor Arthur Sommer. In its early years, the famous industrial plant made thread and fabric. In its peak years, the plant employed over 1,200 people. The oldest building on the property is the spinning mill completed in 1899, which was renovated into holiday flats in 1990. In 2002, a separate hotel building with 92 hotel rooms was completed nearby. The resort features several restaurants and the Harmony Spa wellness centre.
