World's largest Angry Birds activity park alights in Vuokatti

An Angry Birds activity park unique in scale will be constructed in Vuokatti. In addition to the Angry Birds -themed section, the year-round indoor park will include a diverse sports world, where visitors can try out different sports, and a freestyle area, suitable for skateboarding and BMX biking. The activity park will be constructed within the 8,700-square-metre Incap industrial estate. Nearly half of the park's area will be taken up by birds and pigs from Angry Birds that encourage visitors to exercise and play.

Opening in December

The activity park that further reinforces the diversity of the Vuokatti resort will be completed in December this year. Three additional venues to be constructed in the same premises will be announced in October.

– The indoor activity park will further increase the services available in Vuokatti, whose target group is, above all, families. It will reinforce the position of Vuokatti as an attractive and versatile resort, on both the domestic and international tourism markets. At the moment, this is the only Angry Birds indoor activity park of equivalent scale and concept in the world, which makes Vuokatti a unique resort, says Juha Tanskanen, Chairman of the Board of Vuokatti SuperPark Oy,
with a smile on his face.

Rovio and Lappset forces behind activity park

The Angry Birds activity park will be constructed by Rovaniemi-based Lappset Group Oy, one of the leading manufacturers of exercise and playground equipment in the world.

– The Angry Birds activity park in Vuokatti is, to date, the largest project we have delivered domestically. We are enthusiastic about participating in the construction of a whole that is unique within its size category, says Sales and Marketing Director Johan Granholm of Lappset Group Oy. Angry Birds, developed by Rovio Entertainment Oy, is the most sold mobile game in the world.

– We are happy that the world's largest Angry Birds activity park at the moment will be built in Rovio's native country, says Chief Marketing Officer Peter Vesterbacka of Rovio Entertainment Oy.

Holiday Club Resorts main partner

Approximately 1.2 million people visit Vuokatti each year, and 900,000 accommodation nights accumulate per annum. The resort will reach an accommodation capacity of 8,500 beds this year. Vuokatti's goal is to develop the diversity of experiential and tourism services available in the region year-round and, in particular, to increase the amount of services offered to families. The main partner of Vuokatti SuperPark Oy, Holiday Club Resorts, considers the activity park an excellent addition to the services offered by the nearby Holiday Club Katinkulta.

– Holiday Club Resorts has invested 75 million euros in Vuokatti. Thanks to the development of the area, we can keep investing in Katinkulta in the years to come. We consider it important to support resorts such as the activity park, stresses Vesa Tengman, CEO of Holiday Club Resorts Oy.
